What is this all about? The Oakland Indie Awards is a celebration of independent businesses and artists who give back to the community! It's a chance for Oakland to recognize the positive impacts of supporting our local economy. From March 1 through March 31, 2016, the nominations process is open to the public. Anyone can submit their favorite indie business or artist to be considered for an award. Two judging panels comprised of community and business leaders, entrepreneurs, service provider experts, creatives, and Oakland-lovers convene during April to select the winners. The Oakland Indie Awards party is a huge celebration that honors the winners. It's open to the public and takes place on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Oakland Museum. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
The Oakland Indie Awards is an economic development initiative of Beneficial State Bank and Foundation that aims to build prosperity in our communities by celebrating local economy. Since its inception in 2007, the Oakland Indie Awards has recognized over 100 locally-owned businesses and independent artists with an Indie Award for their contribution to Oakland's unique culture and prosperity.
Thank you to our generous sponsors who make the Indie Awards great!
